My Short Biography

"Art is a universal language that speaks to everyone.  From a young age I have been experimenting, playing and studying with mediums of all kinds.  I have come to discover that I am hopelessly in love with creating art!"

Jamie was born in 1981 in San Jose, California.  She comes from a family of creative artists.  In 2005, she received her BFA in Studio Art from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.  She studied with Joanne Ruggles, Michael Barton Miller and Tera Galanti. She completed her masters in Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University in 2012.

2010 - Untitled Collage. This was one of the first pieces I created in graduate school at Notre Dame de Namur University. I studied Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Therapy with a host of creative, talented, passionate budding therapists. When I first realized that an entire profession was dedicated to helping others heal through art I knew I had to be a part of the practice. As my journey through the program progressed I learned how to utilize the language of art to work with others and reflect on my own life.  Art does heal.

2011 - UNTITLED Portrait study Acrylic portrait studies have excited me for years.  I am particularly inspired by Elizabeth Peyton and Lucian Freud (descendent of Sigmund).  Exploring color and stroke makes these quick studies fun to create.
